Autumn is my favorite season for a few reasons: the weather, the changing leaves, and local apples, to name a few; but, most importantly, the Fall Festival of Shakespeare.
Fall Festival is a super special celebration of theatre, community, and Shakespeare, where ten high schools local to the Berkshires collaborate with Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA. Two directors from Shakespeare & Company travel to each school and help the students to develop a production of an original Shakespeare play. The play is performed at in-school shows and is then brought to Shakespeare & Company for a four-day weekend packed with ten Shakespeare shows and over 400 high schoolers. The energy and excitement of the audience is palpable and contagious; it has been called "a rock concert of Shakespeare" by a Boston radio station.
This is my fourth and final year participating in the Festival, and my second year doing A Midsummer Night's Dream! My first time around with the Berkshire Waldorf High School, I was Cobweb the Fairy, and this year I am playing Titania, Queen of the Fairies, with Mt. Everett Regional High School.
We will be performing in Sheffield, MA at Mt. Everett High School on November 14th (7pm),15th (7pm), and 16th (2pm), and at the Tina Packer Playhouse on November 23rd (1:15pm). More information is on the poster below.
Hope you can come see it!
Cover: Our costume and set designers were inspired by the art of Alphonse Mucha and Gustav Klimt, so I used elements of their style to create this Art Nouveau-esque poster of Titania and magically-altered Nick Bottom the weaver.
